Description
Check Valves in valve stems have a potential to leak. Removal of the Giant Button Head in this case will cause gas to leak out of the system. The Plug Valve Check Valve Stem Leak Detector is used to determine if the check valve in the valve stem is leaking prior to the removal and replacement of the Giant Button Head Fitting.
The Plug Valve Check Valve Stem Leak Detector is attached to the Giant Button Head Fitting via the coupler on the bottom. Once it is securely attached, a lever at the top is pressed in order to depress the ball seal at the top of the Giant Button Head Fitting.
This will let any gas that is in the valve stem leak into the Plug Valve Check Valve Stem Leak Detector tube. This leaking gas pressure will be indicated on the gauge. If there is no gas leaking there will be no pressure indicated on the gauge. If the Leak Detector, which was properly installed does not indicate any pressure then it is safe to continue with the replacement of the GBH Fitting.
