Description
Highfield’s Locking Pipe Plugs and Caps are economical solutions to open-ended piping problems for water and gas utilities.
Two-piece construction allows the outer shroud to rotate freely around the inner plug, eliminating unauthorized removal.
Our high security locking plugs and caps install easily and are available in standard pipe sizes from ½” to 2” NPT, male or female thread.
Locking Pipe Plug Advantages & Operation
Our pipe locking plugs are made entirely of case hardened steel with corrosion resistant plating for a long service life in the field.
An O-ring seal mounted on the plug or cap protects against adhesive fouling.
Regular profile high security locking plugs have optional sealing slots where you can add lead wire or padlock seals for further protection against tampering.
Installing Regular Profile High Security Lock Plugs/Caps
- Thread plug or cap onto open pipe end & tighten by applying wrench to the flats
- Push shroud snugly over O-ring seal
- Insert barrel lock fully & withdraw key (compatible with a wide range of barrel locks, including our REVPRO® system)
- Apply optional seal if desired
Installing Low-Profile High Security Lock Plugs/Caps
- Remove shroud from plug using appropriate key
- Thread plug into open pipe end & tighten by applying wrench to flats
- Using key, operate barrel lock & push shroud snugly over O-ring seal (compatible with #6 barrel locks)
- Remove key
For both regular and low-profile lock plugs: once installed and locked into position the shroud will rotate freely, eliminating unauthorized removal.
Highfield also offers standard security locking pipe pugs and caps.
FeaturesLow profile high security locking plugs offer additional benefits:
- Improved design reduces costs to utility companies (over competitive models)
- Shorter overall length reduces exposed material from threaded joint to increase strength & further discourage tampering attempts
- Double tapered contour of shroud prevents unauthorized removal with pipe wrench
- Plug available with two or four wrench flats for improved installation in close quarters
